Pei's travel agency to Taiwan (EN)

Pei's travel agency is a non-official travel agency. It means: I earn no money from any of you. I can book flight tickets for you, but however, you must pay yourselves and you should get a travel insurance on your own.

I will organize our common trip, get accommodations for us and of course, be your travel guide. I may try to explain some history or stories of the place, which we visit, but I can’t guarantee that I could as a professional tour guide. If you have any questions or problems, I will also try to solve them, too.

Anyhow, as I said, although I am not an official travel agency, I still wish that I could offer the same quality as a travel agency!
Nevertheless, for 50€ donation I would like to ask for, it’s just like a small appreciation for all my works and expenses for contacts. ( Sure! I’ll be glad if you want to give moreJ)

Flight ticket is the most expensive part of our trip.
I suppose, it costs around 750€ to 950€ for each person inclusive a train ticket. If we book earlier, the chance to get a low price ticket is bigger, and it also depends how many people we are, This may decrease the costs as well. A 14 days trip in Taiwan charges probably from 2,000 to 3,000€, it depends on whether you want to purchase a lot or not. For example: technical devices, bicycles, Cigarettes, books, CDs, foods … all those things in Taiwan are with excellent quality but with reasonable price. People like me always buy many technical devices and foods from Taiwan, but there is one thing, that must bear in mind: for a more than 175€ object one has to pay tax, unless you can prove that that object is not a new one.

If our group is smaller than 8 persons , we can rent a car; if we have 10-15 persons, then we could probably rent a Mini bus. We make a 10 days trip together, the remaining days you could discover Taiwan more deeply on your own and develop your personal interest.
Here are some tips for our trip. Everything is still in planning , suggestions and wishes are very welcome, just tell me what you want to experience.

§ Flight: with China Airline * (Attention China Airline ≠ Air China)
From Frankfurt direct to Taipei. The ticket contains usually the train ticket, or you can pay 100,- to 150 euros more to book a flight ticket to Frankfurt. For economic class, each person is only allowed to take a 20 kg. Luggage and a 10 kg hand package.

§ When: Eastern Holidays, 2008.

Where we should absolutely go:
§ Go schools in different places. If anyone of you has no interest to play Go in the evening, Pei brings you to a night market to get some delicious Taiwanese snacks, or you can go to Movie Theater, to department store for night shopping, or further, go enjoy the night scenery in Taiwan.

§ National palace museum--- a Must-See treasure in Taiwan. The whole essences and treasures of all old China are there. Thank God, that they were not destroyed during the Cultural Revolution.

§ Night markets, local street foods and restaurants. Food is one of the most fantastic parts of Taiwan: cheap price, pleasure of heaven! Please, let me know in advance what you absolute do not eat.
l Attention! Vegetarian gets in Taiwan no meat, no sea foods, no chili, no garlic and alliums. If you also do not drink milks and eat no eggs (milk products), please tell me, too.

§ Temples. Taoist and buddhist temples. In April we may have the chance to experience one of the most important regional Festivals in Taiwan: The Matsu- Festival, Goddess of the Ocean.

§ Old Towns. Although there are not many old towns more, however we still can visit some rare survival small old towns, like San-Xia, Lu-gang, Tainan and Da-xi.

§ Hot and cold springs. There are not many cold springs in this world, but in Taiwan we get two! Taiwan’s hot springs are also very famous; it’s also a contribution from the Japanese.

§ Nature. Taiwan is one of the rare places where is able to enjoy the sea and the mountain at the same time. Such places like: Taiwan’s east coast, Tarokko-, Ken Ting Natural Park, A-Li mountain, the Sun-Moon lake, Xi-Tou bamboo forest … we should not miss! Maybe you’ll like waterfall, too.

§ To experience the cultures of aboriginals.

§ Teahouse

§ Discover Taipei. The most well known building in Taipei is Taipei 101. Of course to be honest there are also too many buildings, which are boring. Most of the buildings in Taiwan are very ugly…(What a shame!). Still, there are many lovely places.

Tips for your self- organized trip in Taiwan: Actually after our group trip, there are still many things to discover in Taipei. What ever you like, from the natural landscape like Yang-Ming-Shan National Park to Jiu- Fen Gold town…., or Film Street in Xi- Men- Ting, the north-east coast is also well known. The most famous landscape of the north-east coast --- “Head of the Queen”--- will soon collapse due to the natural damage in 10 years!

And it may be funny to take the new high speed train in Taiwan, it is really very new and fast. The system used is a combination form Europe and Japan. Even several railway stations in some way looks like new train stations in Germany …
